Last good bye

I have lost some one really close recently and want to do something personally for the last good bye at the funeral.

First idea was a leather rose to add in my bouquet but it fell on that I only have brown and green color at home. So what could be don in some few hours. Then of course a western hat!

The pattern was made on free hand. Guessing some size and remembered to add seam allowance, ca 0,4mm to the edges.

Cutting edges with edge beveler, dying the leather, burn edges and the backside of the hat brim to make it a bit more firmer to form. The bend of the brim are important!

The lack of time make me to sew it together be four the dye has dried properly. Actually not a problem, more then my fingers turned kind of orange…

Add a string so it could be tided to the bouquet

This was a idea in the last minute so not perfect but it meant something to me. I think he liked the idea of cowboy-life, the horses, nature and hardworking men. Reading old western books on his spare-time. He had a western hat when he worked at his small farm and even at his payday job in some machine on the gravel roads in the woods.

Farewell dad, I will always remember you and bee grateful for that you was my dad!
