Pencil roll

If you have allot of pencils you need to store them some ware. And what would be nicer than a leather pencil roll?

I have looking fore a good pattern for some time and at last I find one on Etsy. The leather was find on a spontaneous stop at a leather workshop, after seen the sign by the road when passing by. I just love the yellow smooth leather, goat i think, perfect for rolling.

Fore this project me and my friend decided to try to use the sewing-machine. It was …interesting. At first the thread snapped almost all the time. Very frustrating. After some trimming of settings like thread tension we get it to keep the thread intact for almost every seam. But by then there was some restarting and removing off seam and repeating. It was hard to stitch in the same holes over and over so some hols beside the finished seam were left if you look close.

We find it hard to get the seams straight. The leather stretched and slides a bit at the same time the head on sewing-machine maybe not pull totally straight.

A minor update was made after last picture. A button was add at the top lid to hold it more in place when rolling.
